Map legend draft
What the symbols on the galaxy map mean. The Help drawer's Map legend tab shows the same entries drawn in your faction's colors.
Star systems
- Empty — Uninhabited or uninhabitable. No population, no owner.
- Neutral — Inhabited by a neutral NPC population. Not governed by any faction.
- Opposing — Inhabited and held by an opposing faction. Each opposing faction has its own overlay color.
- Yours — One of your systems. The faint colored halo around it marks ownership — only your systems and dominions get it.
An asterisk (*) after a system name means the system is governed by a neutral NPC population or by an AI-managed dominion, not directly by a human player.
Agents
- Navarch — One of your Navarchs in transit. You always see your own agents moving on the map, regardless of type.
- Siderian — One of your Siderians in transit. Covert — invisible to enemy radar.
- Erased — One of your Erased in transit. Covert — invisible to enemy radar.
- Detected — A Navarch picked up by your radar (S.L.S.D.) — your own faction's other members and any opposing faction. Only the faction color and direction are revealed; the agent's identity is never disclosed.
Only fleets that are moving can be detected. A fleet sitting in a system is never a radar blip. Detected arrows are always Navarchs. Siderians and Erased travel invisibly to all radar — you only learn they arrived after they act. Faction-mates' Navarchs appear as anonymous detected blips when they enter your radar, the same way enemy Navarchs do. You only see your own agents in full detail.
Map view modes (toggles in the top-right)
- Visibility — Your intel level (1-5) on every visited system, plus a faint ring sized to that value. Unvisited systems show nothing — go scout something to see numbers appear.
- System points — The population point value of each system you have enough intel on (visibility 3+). The ring scales with the value. Systems below that intel threshold show nothing.
- S.L.S.D. — Your detection range, drawn as a dashed boundary around your radar coverage. Enemy Navarchs that enter this disk appear as moving arrows. Siderians and Erased remain invisible.
These overlays only render when zoomed in close to the map. The S.L.S.D. disk of a system has a radius of its S.L.S.D. value × 3 map units.
Numbers shown for Legacy games. This page is the same at every speed.
